Promenade 2006 garden tour!
CLUB
OBJECTIVE:
The Colleyville Garden Club adheres to the objectives of the
National Garden Clubs, Inc. and is
organized
to promote interest in all phases
of gardening, horticultural education,
civic beautification and conservation of
natural resources.

MEETINGS:
The Colleyville Garden Club
holds general meetings September through April on the first
Wednesday of the month at the
Colleyville Center, 5301 Riverwalk Drive, Colleyville, Texas.
Social time
begins at 9:30 am and the meeting starts at 10:00 am.
We have a members
and guests only holiday luncheon in December and
an end of the year
luncheon and installation of officers in May.
Both are held at different sites.
Programs at general meetings are presented by master
gardeners, local nursery people,
and other gardening experts. Topics such
as plant propagation, hummingbirds, landscape design,
native plants, growing
herbs, floral design, attracting wildlife, water gardening, perennials,
etc.
have provided helpful gardening information to our community.
Everyone is welcome to
attend one general meeting before joining!

National Garden Clubs, Inc. is a federation of
state garden clubs and is the largest volunteer gardening organization in the
world with about 6,218 Clubs and over 198,000 members in 50 states and
the
District of Columbia. International and National Affiliates are also
recognized.
It
sponsors the annual National Garden Week, which begins on the first Sunday in
June,
and
publishes The National Gardener
quarterly which contains ideas for horticulture,
floral and landscape design, flower shows, conservation, and environmental
projects.

to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental
responsibility."
NGC purposes are:
"To co-ordinate the interests and activities of the State Garden Clubs with similar

the improvement of roadsides and parks
To encourage the
establishment and maintenance of botanical gardens, arboreta
and horticultural centers
for the advancement of science, enjoyment and
education of the public
To advance the study of
gardening, landscape design, environmental issues,
floral design and horticulture
and assist deserving students through college
scholarships in these fields of
endeavor
To
co-operate with other organizations furthering the interests of horticulture,
conservation, environmental

Some of the projects of the National Garden
Clubs, Inc. include:
Scholarship Program,
Garden Therapy, Habitat for Humanity,
Penny Pines Program, Plant It Pink, School Gardens,
World Gardening, and the Blue
Star Memorial Program.
The 41st President is Renee Blaschke and she has two new projects for 2009-2011;
Beautify Blight and Golden Days.

Garden Clubs, Inc.
NGC, Inc. has divided the country into eight
regions.
The South Central Region consists of Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and
Texas.

Texas Garden Clubs, Inc.
Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. exists to coordinate the
interests
and activities of approximately 544 TGC's (13,532 members).
Its headquarters is located in Fort Worth, Texas and it publishes The Lone
Star Gardener quarterly.

across the State of Texas that promote nature and gardening.

The Garden Club Council of Fort Worth
consists of 46 member clubs.
The Council was established to stimulate interest and encourage
citizens in all phases of gardening through correlation of garden club
work.
